In 2012 Pike graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a B.S. in Marine Biology. Since then he has pursued research projects above and below the ocean's surface. After spending a year as a fishery observer on commercial fishing boats, Pike worked on multiple projects including gathering subtidal data regarding the function of MPAs and working on a kelp forest restoration project. In 2015 he interned as a SCUBA diving technician with the National Park Service and got to dive on a plethora of projects and sites across the country. His primary research interests include anthropogenic disturbances, conservation and restoration, and benthic community ecology, primarily within kelp forests and nearshore ecosystems.
